About HSK 2 reading

At HSK 2 you can read connected sentences instead of isolated ones: short passages about daily routines, shopping, weather, plans, and getting around. Sentences begin to link with simple connectors — because, but, then — so a passage starts to tell a small story rather than list facts.

Lessons here reuse the vocabulary you met at HSK 1 while feeding in new everyday words through context. Texts stay short enough to finish in one sitting, and every word is still tappable when you need a check.

How the reader works

Read the Chinese text first — every word is tappable for pinyin and a meaning in your language. Turn pinyin or translation on when you need them and off when you don't. Sign in to save words, and come back later to the exact sentence you found them in.

FAQ

How is HSK 2 reading different from HSK 1?

Texts are longer and the sentences connect to each other. You will meet simple cause-and-effect and time expressions, but the vocabulary stays firmly in everyday territory.

What if an HSK 2 text feels too hard?

Drop back to HSK 1 for a few texts — the levels are one click apart. Reading an easier text fluently does more for you than fighting a hard one.

Are these lessons free? Do I need an account?

All published lessons are free to read, no account needed. Signing in adds saving: words and phrases you tap are kept with the sentence you found them in, so you can review them in context later.
